View Full Version : Whiskers In The Ear Wants Practical Help

Hi Everyone.

I'm looking for rodent loving people close to Watford to assist Whiskers in a variety of ways:

The first is CAGE CLEANING - Yep cleaning out cages, it's not fun, it's not exciting in fact it can be downright tedium however it is SO much faster with two people, especially the amount of lifting, sweeping and rearranging I need to do. I need someone local who is happy to spend a couple of hours once a week pitching in and cleaning out the whiskery cages, anything from an hour would REALLY help and i will of course provide tea and biccyas and the ratties will provide cuddles.

The second is arty crafty people... I need you! Can you sew, even basically.... would you be willing to spend an hour or two sewing a hammock for a small animal? I can provide the fabric etc but with everything else i don't have time to blink let alone stitch :D I am happy to cover materials, postage etc. I need hammocks of all sizes, neck pouches to carry scared rodents in to let them stay close to the body, soft beds and if at all possible towling flooring for when I have in elderly of sick little ones.

The third thing I need is - Rodent Cuddlers.... yep, people to come along and have cuddle-a-rat days. A lot of the animals that come into whiskers are very very scared and petrified of humans... after 20 mins a rodent will loose it's fear and relax... the trick is to keep the animal with you until it is forced to relax and then continue with this reguarly... the thing is with many scared animals one on one forced socialisation sessions take up a LOT of time, hence my need for rodent cuddlers :D

If you feel you can help with ANY of these things then please please let me know, also if you are interested in becoming a fostor carer for Whiskers.

Oh Mel, I wish I lived closer! :hug2:

I can have a go at making some hammocks for you. I also have a look here to see if there's anything else I can make that would help: http://www.dapper.com.au/toys.htm

Please can anyone else help? :crossed:

Have you had any luck finding helpers? I'm too far away and don't really know anyone down that way, but I'll let you know if I come across anyone who can help. Good luck! :)
