Hi,

This is a desperate appeal for funding to enable us to help pound dogs in need. Most urgently this money is required for fuel costs to get pound dogs to the the safety of their rescue placements and emergency boarding but in the longer term we also need to be able to recruit more volunteers to meet the rapidly increasing demands for help we have received recently.

Animal Lifeline UK is a rescue organisation that works with pounds, rescues, pet owners and volunteers throughout the UK to help animals.

We do this in a number of ways:

* Finding volunteers to help with homechecking, fostering, transporting animals, etc.
* Finding suitable rescue placements for pound dogs and co-ordinating efforts to get them to there after their seven day stay at the pound. Without this many of these dogs would be facing euthanasia.
* Visiting and checking rescues to ensure they meet strict criteria, including a non-destruction policy, home checking potential adopters, provide suitable accommodation for the animals and ensuring they receive veterinary attention, including vaccinations and neutering where appropriate.
* Matching up potential adopters to animals in need of homes.
* Promoting responsible pet ownership.

You can find out more about us by visiting our web page at www.animallifelineuk.org or by joining our forum at www.forum.animallifelineuk.org

To give you an idea of the number of pound dogs we have saved recently, since July last year we have helped over 200 dogs to safety from just ONE of the pounds alone, with each dog's transport run costing an average of £50, sometimes significantly more. At any one time we can be helping dogs from more than a dozen pounds across the UK. We also assist other animal welfare organisations and are frequently asked to aid in large rescue operations by co-ordinating the swift removal of animals and getting them to safety.

Although many transport volunteers give up their time and petrol freely those who are able to do this are in increasingly short supply and as the costs of petrol are so high and surely set to increase this is only going to get harder. Sadly our funds are becoming very low and as a result we are worried that we may not be able to carry on helping dogs and other animals to the safety of their rescue placements, foster homes or emergency boarding which would be a disaster as we have so many people that rely on us for our help to save animals.

We have even been investigated recently by one county council and as a result have been officially asked to find rescue placements for dogs in pounds in another three different council areas. This is great for those dogs as they have a chance of finding themselves with a chance of a new life at the end of their seven day pound stay, but it does place more demands on Animal Lifeline UK and we really do need more help to make sure this is sustainable and we can provide assistance in all of these cases.

If you can spare even just a pound to help us continue our work to save these poor animals it would be very much appreciated. Please send any donations via our Paypal account which is [email protected] and do state if there is a particular case or cause (e.g. emergency boarding, transportation of pound dogs, etc.) you would like to donate to. Please send as a gift so Paypal don't charge fees for the transaction.

We are also appealing for more volunteers and ALUK helpers to help us co-ordinate home checks, transport requests, fostering appeals, etc. If you feel you may be able to help with any of these please feel free to visit our forum here for more information: www.animallifelineuk.org/forum/showthread.php?33630-Appeal-for-new-volunteers-to-join-us-at-Animal-Lifeline-UK or register at www.forum.animallifelineuk.org and state what assistance you may be able to give or in which counties you can help. By doing this we can then send you an automatic email whenever there is an animal in need in your area. You can find out more about our automatic e-mail system here: www.animallifelineuk.com/site/autoemails.html

Alternatively please feel free to e-mail us at [email protected]

Many thanks for taking the time to read this.

Best wishes,

The Animal Lifeline UK Team :)
