Cathy, Pointer x Collie ?Lurcher, DOB 2011 – Godstone, Surrey

Homing Requirements: Cathy needs a dog experienced family who can support her energy on a lead and control dog encounters as she is keen. Cathy needs a secure garden with 6' panel fencing and good door and gate security. Cathy can suffer from car sickness at this stage but may settle once familiar with regular journeys.

Her Story: Cathy was surrendered into the pound in May 2013. Cathy came to us at the end of August and is settling in the kennel environment which is challenging for her. Cathy wants to meet and enjoys contact with other dogs. Cathy is neutered, chipped and fully vax'd. Cathy is in kennels near Gatwick, West Sussex.

Advert: Cathy has a keen friendly energy. Her socialisation needs further work but her foundation is strong. Cathy is clean in her kennel and welcomes strangers and all with affection. Cathy isn't ready to be off lead as her enthusiasm is a little too full on unless her encounters are controlled; she welcomes meeting dogs and doesn't like to held back as she would love a few run arounds!

Cathy is a crossbreed, possibly with Pointer x Collie Lurcher genes. She is visually astute and intelligent. Her instincts are good and she is learning in situ as best as our circumstances allow but she needs a worthy home to bring her through and offer her the foundation she so deserves.

Please note that this dog is currently in boarding kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found.

Cathy is still waiting for her forever home
She is currently in foster, here is what her foster family say:
"We have had Cathy in foster since February. She was suffering with an ear infection and was struggling in the kennels. She came home with us for 2 days... and well what can I say but she is so adorable with such lovely eye contact, her latest trick is when you say 'look' she looks you right in the eye!
She has to have steroids as it turns out her ear problem was because of atopic eczema. She has a tasting session (with tablet) every morning and thinks this is a fine restaurant.
Cathy has settled with three cats, a bit of a mission at first but finally called a truce, she can be mischievous and give chase but mostly lives happily alongside.
She loves people and is good with children, she is a bit too clumsy for little ones but will be fine with older children. Has shown absolutely no aggression and is a happy big chocolate lump. Cathy is responding quickly to training and is relaxed on the lead except with other dogs. She was lunging at dogs initially but with desensitisation she is learning to relax and is much less reactive when she meets other dogs and even managed to play with a puppy today in the park.
Cathy is still travel sick but OK on short journeys. She loves her walks and is eager to please so easy to train. She is a very lovable, soppy girl."
