Post Checking all new rescue to us

Hi over the the past few months we have been checking out all new rescues to us.

We feel that just as it is important to check homes for possible homes for animals or foster homes it is also important to check rescues.

Currently anyone can call themselves a rescue and anyone can become a registered charity if they have the money to do it.

There is nothing to govern over checking to see if rescues do things right and so how do we really know if an animal is going to a better place than it was in the first place?

We at Animal Lifeline UK care about every animal we are asked to help with. We spend a lot of time trying to find many animals rescue placements so we feel that we really should be making sure that these animals are going to the best place for them. Therefore from now on all new rescues must be rescue checked.

    All rescues should be:

    1. Neutering their animals and if they don't they should be going out with contracts with the new owners to say they will get it done and the rescue should be checking to make sure that it is carried out, unless advised otherwise by a vet.

    2. Have a no kill policy

    3. Fully vaccinating animals in their care and if they don't they should be going with contracts where the new owners have to and the rescue should check that this is done.

    4. Microchipping all animals in their care and if they don't they should be going out with a contract to say that the owners have to and the rescue should check that this is done.

    5. Home checking all possible homes and foster homes

We at Animal Lifeline UK will not allow any animal that we are asked to help to go to any rescue that does not do the above.

(Some of these will not apply to all animals we rescue as we help so many different species).
